Suspects arrested after 13-year-old girl shot at apartment complex in Benton

On Monday, June 6, officers located a juvenile female victim suffering from a single gunshot wound at the apartment complex.

BENTON, Ark. — The Benton Police Department is investigating a shooting at Chapel Ridge Apartments that left one juvenile injured. 

Shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 6, officers located a 13-year-old girl suffering from a single gunshot wound to the leg at the apartment complex.

She was transported to a local hospital for treatment, she remains under medical care but is considered stable.

A 17-year-old male suspect was taken into custody shortly after the shooting and charged with two counts of terroristic act, battery 1st degree, aggravated riot, minor in possession of a handgun, and unlawful discharge of a firearm in city limits.

Benton police detectives obtained a warrant for a second shooter, identified as 52-year-old Edward Eugene Hill, who recently turned himself in. 

Hill was charged with of battery 1st degree, two counts of terroristic act, aggravated riot, possession of a firearm by certain persons and unlawful discharge of a firearm in city limits.

Three other adults and seven juveniles will be charged with Inciting a Riot- a Class D felony.   

This investigation remains ongoing.
