What COVID-19 vaccine phase is Arkansas currently in?

As the COVID-19 vaccine continues distribution across Arkansas, it can be difficult to keep up with new information, including if you're eligible.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — On Jan. 18, the beginning of Phase 1B meant vaccinations could be administered to Arkansans aged 70 and older as well as education staff, which included child care.

On Tuesday, Feb. 23, Hutchinson announced the minimum age requirement of the COVID-19 vaccination plan to be lowered to those aged 65 and older, effectively making the vaccine available to an additional 115,000 more Arkansans.

Then on March 2, Hutchinson expanded Phase 1B to include food manufacturing workers. This list includes an estimated 49,000 people.

The governor then opened up Phase 1B for everyone that is eligible in that phase. That included people 65 years and older, education employees, first responders, postal services and more.

Hutchinson has also moved with people with intellectual or development disabilities from Phase 1C into Phase 1B.

The governor then announced on March 16 that people under Phase 1C will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.

Then on March 30, Hutchinson announced that all Arkansans over the age of 16 were eligible to receive the vaccine.

We will continue to update this article as Arkansas moves into different vaccination phases.

As of March 16, a total of 303,823 people have been fully vaccinated in Arkansas.

The Arkansas Department of Health has information on what to do if you are someone who is interested in getting the vaccine, but doesn't quite know the process of getting there.
