Fallen veterans honored with 'Wreaths Across America Day' ceremony at Little Rock National Cemetery

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Our fallen veterans were honored on Saturday, Dec. 15 with wreaths at the Little Rock National Cemetery.

Every December 15, is National "Wreaths Across America Day."

The group "Arkansas Run for the Fallen" has taken the lead in Little Rock for the last three years, and raised enough money for 8,000 wreaths.

Volunteers placed them on headstones and said the veterans' names out loud, as a way to keep their memory alive. Many of the volunteers took photos of the headstones, so they could learn more about the people they honor.

One told us his dad was a veteran and hopes to find connections to him.

"There's a lot of history here," Kevin Willis said, "and I'm looking forward to going back and doing the research on those that I'm putting the wreaths on to see what they've done in the military and where they were at."

There are about 22,000 headstones in the Little Rock National Cemetery. Arkansas Run for the Fallen hopes to eventually raise enough money to put a wreath on every grave.
