Reward offered in aggravated animal cruelty investigation in England

Two dogs were shot in the head in England in two separate incidents. The police department is now offering a reward for information in the case.

The England Police Department is investigating two cases of aggravated animal cruelty.

On April 29, a 7-month-old dog was shot in the head four times on Hickory Street.

“I don’t even know how they can sleep at night,” said Wanda Johnson whose dog was shot and killed.

The injuries were severe and the dog, Beau, had to be euthanized.

“That little dog didn’t do anything to anybody. He was helpless. He was innocent,” said Johnson.

Almost two weeks later, a puppy was shot in the head and sustained a severe neck injury on Short Street.

“You could tell the gunshot was really close,” said Carl Cotton whose 4-month-old dog, Domino, was shot. “Just need to figure out what’s going on and why people just running around shooting innocent dogs.”

A $500.00 reward is now being offered for the arrest and conviction of the person/persons responsible for these senseless acts of violence.

“It took a very, for lack of better terms, a sick mind to do something like this to a defenseless animal,” said England Police Chief Danna Powell.

She’s hoping the reward will encourage someone to come forward with information.

“As small as England is, someone knows who did this,” said Powell.

Her concern is what could come next.

“If you’ll do that to a defenseless animal, my mind goes to what can you do to a human,” said Powell.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at (501) 842-2311.
