North Little Rock police assist U.S. Marshals in SWAT standoff

Heavy police presence in the 600 block of W. 22nd Street in North Little Rock for a SWAT standoff yielded no suspect until the next day. Kenneth Johnson, 21, was arrested by the U.S. Marshal's service for absconding.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – Officers and Special Operations team members with the North Little Rock Police Department assisted U.S. Marshals with the service of a warrant that resulted in a SWAT standoff on March 21.

The warrant for Kenneth Johnson was served to a home in the 600 block of W. 22nd Street in North Little Rock. As of March 22, the U.S. Marshals have arrested Johnson.

During the standoff, police threw tear gas into the home and SWAT members entered with shields and guns drawn but didn’t locate anyone. Search dogs were taken into the home, but no subject was apprehended.

A search began after the standoff. Johnson remained on the loose until the next day.

No one was injured during the incident.

Johnson had outstanding warrants for absconding. He may be facing further charges.
